MARGUERITE D. "MARG" NICHOLSON



HORNELL-Marguerite D. "Marg" Nicholson, 91, formerly of the Webbs Crossing Road, passed away Thursday morning (Feb. 25, 2010) at Hornell Gardens, where she has resided since 2005.

Born in the Town of Hornellsville on Dec. 19, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Grover C. and Anna Walsh Prior. In 1935 she was married to Clifford H. Nicholson, who predeceased her in 1987, after 52 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Eleanor Campbell and Mary Cartella and her three brothers, William, Francis and Grover Prior.

A life long resident of Hornell, Marg was employed by the former Cameo Shop in Hornell, Gardiner?s Clothing in Canisteo and Westinghouse in Bath before she began her employment with the Steuben County Office of the Aging at the Hornell Senior Citizen Center on Broadway in Hornell.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornell where she was a member of the Mizpah Class.

Marg enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful baker, who loved to share her baked goods, especially her Christmas cookies, with family and friends.

Her family includes her two daughters, Deloris "Dot" (Ronald) Perkins of Hornell and Judith ?Judy? (Richard) DeForest of Carthage; her five grandchildren, Eliza (Matthew) Bolivar of Castorland, Craig (Jennifer) DeForest of Great Bend, Eric De Forest of Highland Heights, KY, Susan (Kevin) Learn of Canisteo and Kim (Joseph) Ross of Middleton, Tenn.; her five step-grandchildren, Tina (Daniel) Lee of Hornell, Theresa (George) Schnellman of Conway, S.C., Tammy (Theodore) Murray of Hornell, Ronald (Lorrie) Perkins of Chiefland, Fla. and Colleen (Charles) Harrison of Hornell; her nine great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; her two sisters, Virginia Nicholson of Williamson and May Prior of Buffalo; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at the Hornell United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Marian Luce officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
