SHARON DIANE "SHRIN" ARMELI
HORNELL-Sharon Diane "Shrin" Armeli, 64, of 39 Mill St., and a resident of McAuley Manor in North Hornell for the past seven years, passed away late Friday evening (Feb. 12, 2010) in the presence of her loving family, at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, where she had been a patient for the past week.
Born in Yates Center, KS on June 18, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Charles Robert and Edna Schrewer Fulhage. On Oct. 16, 1965 she was married at St. Patrick's Church in Wichita, KS to Anthony S. "Tony" Armeli, who survives.
A graduate of Yates Center High School, Sharon also graduated from the Wichita Business College and was employed by the E.B. Construction Co. in Wichita, KS. She was also employed as a secretary at Children's Hospital in Buffalo before she began her employment as a secretary for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Hornell.
Sharon has resided in Hornell since 1965 and was a very talented seamstress who did alterations for about 25 years for the former Cameo Shop, The Men's Shop, J. C. Penney's and for the Hornell Police Department. She also designed and sewed beautiful bridal gowns and bride's maid dresses for her family and friends. Along with her daughter, Tracy, she operated the Old Barn Works, a consignment shop in Rochester for five years, where they made and sold various crafts.
She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved to talk and visit with her family and friends, especially her wonderful Mill Street neighbors. Besides doing various crafts, Sharon also enjoyed attending craft shows and shopping.
A member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, she was very devout about attending Saturday evening Mass weekly at St. Ann's Church.
Her family includes her devoted and loving husband of 44 years, Tony; her three caring and loving children, Tracy (Dan) Hall of Ontario, NY, Shelly Armeli of Hornell and Michael (Amanda) Armeli of Arkport; her four grandchildren that she dearly loved, Matthew Hall, Brooke Armeli, Christopher Hall and Haley Armeli as well as her fifth grandchild expected in March; her sister, Marla (John) Beckom of Girard, KS; her sister-in-law, Jane Fulhage of Columbia, MO; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Liz Armeli of Wayland; her aunt, Ruth Fulhage of Yates Center, KS and her cousin, Kathy Kruger of Kansas City, MO also her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Charles Duane Fulhage.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell. Friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
