VERNON A. TYNER
AVOCA-Vernon A. Tyner, 92, of Avoca and a former long time resident of Parma Center, passed away Wednesday evening (Oct. 7, 2009) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital in Bath, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Syracuse on June 16, 1917, he was the son of the late Elmer and Florence Sands Tyner. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Elcia Jane Henson.
Vernon loved his family, his country, history and hunting. He was retired as a Motor Vehicle Inspector and was a World War II veteran. He was a proud life time member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.)
His family includes his loving wife of 72 years, Margie; his cherished children, Priscilla Beeman, Tharan (Ralph) DeLeo, Randall (Dianne) Tyner and David (Giselle) Tyner; also his 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service will held at 3 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Sande Thomas officiating. Committal services and interment, with military honors, will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to either the
Avoca Historical Society, 5 Griswold St., or to the Avoca Free Library, 18 N. Main St., Avoca, N.Y. 14809.
