LESLIE G. PARSONS



LAKE CITY, FLA./BATH-Leslie G. Parsons, 80 of Lake City, Fla. and a former resident of Bath, went to be with the Lord Monday afternoon (Aug. 31, 2009) at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua, after a long illness.

Born in Rochester on Feb. 24, 1929, he was a son of the late Brewster and Hazel Douglas Parsons. On April 16, 1950 he was married in Hornell to the former Dorothy McGregor, who survives.

A graduate of Avoca Central School in 1948, Leslie resided in Bradford and Bath before moving to Lakeland, Fla. in 1973 and Lake City, Fla. in 2002.

He owned the Parsons and Finney Pepsi-Cola Distribution in Bath and after his retirement he owned several used furniture stores in various areas.

Leslie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lakeland, Fla. where he also served as an usher.

He enjoyed horseracing and bowling.

His family includes his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; his three children, Irene (Robert) VanDelinder of Branchport, Ernestine (Grover) Seaman of Lake City, Fla. and Leslie Karl (Norma) Parsons of Minneapolis, Minn.; his nine grandchildren, Gidget, Karla, Robert, Timothy, Stefanie, Christopher, Rachel, Sarah and Naomi; his 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Ernestine Greek of Lakeland, Fla.; also his nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Samuel Parsons.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Canandaigua where a funeral service will be held following calling hours at noon Thursday, with Pastor Boock officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.

Those wishing may contribute in his memory to the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424 or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620.
