BARBARA A. BENNETT



ARKPORT-Barbara A. Bennett, 74, formerly of Arkport, passed away Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 26, 2009), in the presence of her loving family, at the home of her daughter, Katie Hendee in Fremont.

Born in North Hornell on June 17, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret LaMonte Wilkins. On April 9, 1955 she was married at the Larger Parish Church in Canaseraga to Fay Bennett, who predeceased her in June of 2002 after 47 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her two brothers, Monte Wilkins and Richard Wilkins.

A life long resident of the Arkport area, Barb was a graduate of Arkport Central School.

She co-owned and operated with her late husband the FaBarb Dairy Farm in Arkport. Before her retirement she was employed for about five years at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

Barb was an active member of the Larger Parish Church in Canaseraga and enjoyed her flowers and bird watching, but her children and grandchildren were her entire life.

Her family includes her six children, Christine (Edwin) Kanaval of Wayland, Katie (Sam) Hendee of Hornell, Larry Bennett of Hornell, Lee (Theresa) Bennett of Canaseraga, Sandra (Greg) Phelps Brokaw of Canandaigua and David (Penny) Bennett of Arkport; her 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; her very special friend, Robert Rose, Sr. of North Hornell; her sister, Miriam Carroll of Hornell; her brother, Harold (Christine) Wilkins of Hornell; also her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to Noon on Monday at the Larger Parish Church in Canaseraga, where a funeral and committal service will be held in her memory following calling hours at Noon on Monday, with Pastor Jesse Flint officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to the Larger Parish Church, 20 Pratt St., Canaseraga, NY 14822.
